Windows Vista - Add Internet Explorer icon back to the Windows Vista Desktop.


To add the Internet Explorer icon back to the Windows Vista Desktop.

1. Launch Regedit.

2. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Add a REG_DWORD key with the name: {871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}

4. Change the Value of the key to '0' (Zero).

5. Go back to your desktop and press F5 to refresh it.  You should now have the Internet Explorer Icon back on your desktop.
